For the first time this year Albuquerque hit over 100Ā° Tuesday afternoon. Highs over the next couple of days remain very warm in the high 90s maybe even the low triple digits. Fire danger will continue to be a major concern across the northern and southern mountains. Although winds will not be that high throughout the day on Wednesday with a very dry air mass in place and very warm temperatures the fire danger and the fire weather will continue to be very very bad.

The fire of biggest concern will be the Silver Fire near Kingston, New Mexico. That fire has a chance to burn very close to town and with the dry timber and dry conditions in place it will be a major challenge for firefighters. Meanwhile the fires up across northern New Mexico will continue to burn within their perimetersĀ  but we shouldn’t see huge wind gusts to push the fires over limited containment lines.

On the positive side moisture’s should start creeping back into New Mexico by Thursday with a chance of isolated showers. The triple digit heat will start to back off Friday as well with the continued chance at least an isolated store.
