Garden trains roll through BioParkMay 31st, 2013 at 1:00 pm by Bill Diven under Community Affairs
Miniature trains in scale landscapes will fit right into the Botanic Garden at the Albuquerque BioPark this weekend.
The Backyard Garden Train Show features the work and rolling stock of the New Mexico Garden Railroaders Club and will operate from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday through Sunday.
“Miniature trains bring out the inner child in everyone that visits these wonderful displays,” said Jon Stewart, BioPark curator of plants. “It’s fun to use your imagination to create and explore these small worlds. From the plant side, we enjoy featuring specimens that are small by nature and others that we miniaturize through the way we grow them.”
Children can push buttons to run trains in the Railroad Garden, and club members will be running multiple trains including some powered by steam.
The train show is included with regular BioPark admission. The BioPark Botanic Garden and Aquarium are located on Central Avenue NW just east of the Rio Grande.
