5. The Boy Scouts will now allow openly gay children to be scouts. The Scouts’ leaders lifted the ban yesterday, but still have it for gay scout leaders.

4. You better buckle up because Click It or Ticket is now in effect. Police and sheriff’s deputies will be spending extra time all summer long looking for adults and kids who aren’t wearing their seat belts.

3. Don’t forget Monday is Memorial Day. There are a lot of ceremonies around the state to remember America’s Veterans. Also remember most government offices are closed or have limited hours.

2. If you’re headed out camping this weekend please be extremely careful with the drought. You can’t smoke outdoors in any national forest here and campfires are allowed in just a few and only in certain spots. Plus you can’t smoke or have any open fires on state or private land.

1. It’s going to be another hot day. Today we will have isolated showers and thunderstorms after noon but mostly sunny, with a high near 92. Tonight will be partly cloudy with a low around 56.
