State health officials are urging parents in Albuquerque to keep kids away from wild animals.
New Mexico health officials issued a warning after a bat was found in northeast Albuquerque that tested positive for rabies.
Letters were sent to parents of children who attend nearby schools.
Rabies can be deadly if not treated in a timely manner.
The health department says no exposures have been reported so far.
