For those of you who wonder if porcupines can shoot their quills, here’s a chance to find out for sure.

On Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. discovery stations set up around the Albuquerque BioPark Zoo will “uncover the truth” about your favorite animals, according to a news release from the zoo.

“There are many misleading animal myths that we grow up believing,” Education Specialist Sarah Haft. “Some are based in truth, and by exploring animal behaviors, visitors can learn how these myths got started.

“It is a fun and silly day, but it also highlights animals’ unique traits and gives us a better understanding of everything from snakes to gorillas.”

Oh, and about those flying quills.  Homer the African crested porcupine will be out for a stroll at 11 a.m., so you can find out for yourself.
