The Weekly Cool DownApril 22nd, 2013 at 5:13 pm by John Smith under Weather
It’s time for our weekly cool down! Hardly something those of us across New Mexico are getting excited about. Thankfully the cool down this week will not be quite as strong!
A cold front will sweep across the state through Monday night and Tuesday. This will cool temps the most across the east, where temps will drop up to 30°. However, the rest of the state’s temperature drop will not be quite as jolting. Albuquerque will drop by around 10° with highs near 70° for Tuesday.
The other story with this front will be the wind. Again, the east will see the highest winds overnight through Tuesday. The southeast will see gusts near 40 mph, leading to quite a bit of blowing dust.
Shower activity will not be impressive with this front, but the northeast and northern mountains will see a few showers Monday night through Tuesday. Some of the higher peaks of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains could pick up an inch or two of snow.
Things settle down on Wednesday, with temps starting to rebound. Thursday will be much warmer, despite a weak storm crossing the state. That could throw a few showers into the mix during the day Thursday. That storm clears Friday, leading to a very warm and sunny weekend!
