Strong Winds & Blowing Dust…March 17th, 2013 at 11:45 am by chrisgilson under Weather
Another low pressure system is passing to our north. But, it is strong enough to produce some scattered rain/snow showers. Some areas could even hear a few rumbles of thunder this afternoon. With the chance for scattered showers today, winds will be picking up especially for areas near the Metro, the East Mountains and in the Northeast. Winds will be sustained out of the west at 20-30 mph with gusts of 40 mph or more at times. Such strong winds could pick up dust causing reduced visibility on the roadways. So if you’re traveling today give yourself a little extra time. The Red Flag Warning for the much of the state continues into tonight because of the strong winds as well.
As you head back to work or school on your Monday, winds will remain fairly strong, but a little weaker compared to Sunday. Temperatures on Monday dive back to more seasonable conditions. Highs in the Metro will reach the middle 60s with sunshine. Have a great week!
