Winds Pick Up for Sunday

March 16th, 2013 at 8:23 pm by under Weather

A couple of disturbances are passing to our north this weekend.  The systems are giving the Northern Mountains and Southern Colorado the chance for scattered rain/snow showers.  The systems provided the metro with some cloudy skies late Saturday afternoon and we’ll see some more clouds for your Sunday.

But, the bigger weather story will be the strong, gusty winds.  The winds will be especially strong for the metro along with areas near the Eastern Mountains and in the Northeast part of the state.  Winds will be sustained from 20-30 mph with gusts of 40 mph or even higher at times.  So much of the state is under a Red Flag Warning with the exception of the Southeast.  There areas are under a Fire Weather Watch.  So it’s best not to do any burning this weekend!   Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
