Winter Storm Winds Down

March 9th, 2013 at 4:32 pm by under Weather

After having seen several inches of snowfall over the Northern Mountains, rain showers in valley locations including the metro, and wind across the entire state, the latest winter storm to hit New Mexico is starting to wind down. The heaviest precip continues over eastern Colorado. As for New Mexico, expect scattered showers to continue in the form of snow over the higher terrain and mixed precip in the lower elevations.

This winter storm has also brought in much colder air. Temperatures will continue to run much cooler for Sunday as precip chances start to diminish and skies begin to clear. A few more inches of additional accumulating snowfall will still be possible over the Northern Mountains through Sunday evening. Winds will also start to come down across the west and central locations, but the east will continue to see gusts up to 40 mph Sunday.

The workweek will be much quieter with more sunshine statewide and warming temperatures. Temps will reach the 70s in the metro by Thursday, Friday, and Saturday! The southeast will climb back into the low 80s by the end of the week.

Raton is still being hammered by this storm. At least 6-8″ with extreme wind
    s causing good sized drifts.
