LCPD accepting academy applications
The Las Cruces Police Department is now taking applications for its next training academy.
LCPD’s 43rd academy is tentative set to begin in September.
Cadets earn $15.5o and hour during the academy with a boost to $17.83 during their one-year probationary period that includes eligibility for a $3,000 retention bonus.
The trainees then move up to about $42,700 annually as regular officers.
Applicants must be at least 19 when the academy starts and be U.S. citizens with at least a high school diploma and no felony convictions.
