Lobos drive for 5

During the first practice of the season, Steve Alford and his 14th ranked Lobos made it clear that they were on a drive for 5 Championships. With 4 games left the Lobos are closing in on their target. If they are able to sweep the week, it will be mission accomplished for the defending champs. Beating San Diego State and Wyoming is not a walk in the park, especially in this Mountain West. San Diego State will come to The Pit, having won the last two games on the Lobos home court. There is also that matter of holding the Lobos to only 34 points back in January. Whenever the Lobos have really needed to prove themselves this season, they, for the most part, have come through. Just ask Colorado State. They watched Kendall Williams torch them for 46 points in a battle for first place on the Rams home court. That ended a 27 game home win streak. The Lobos came in with experience as a champion while Colorado State was trying to break through. That’s the difference. Since Steve Alford arrived the Lobos have developed a habit of cutting down nets. Why on earth would they stop now in a league with a top ranked RPI?
