Blizzard Conditions for Some AreasFebruary 24th, 2013 at 4:57 pm by John Smith under Weather
Tonight will be active as our latest winter storm continues to cross New Mexico. Blizzard Warnings have been posted for the east central part of the state where snow and blowing snow will reduce visibility much of the night. Winter Storm Warnings continue for the eastern plains where 4″ – 8″ of accumulation is possible by Monday morning. Winter Weather Advisories extend from the Northern Mountains, through the metro, and into the Sacramento Mountains and Gila. The metro could pick up an inch or so of snow overnight as well. All advisories and warnings are shown below.
The storm quickly clears out early Monday. Western sections will start the day with mostly sunny skies, while the east will eventually see more sunshine by the afternoon. Temps will be noticeably chilly with afternoon highs running about 10° – 15° below average.
Another quick storm passes north on Tuesday bringing some light snow to the Northern Mountains and another dose of wind for the rest of the state. A ridge of high pressure will build in for the rest of the week allowing for more sunshine and moderating temperatures. By next weekend, the metro will be making a run for 60°!
