It is amazing to me how panic stricken New Mexicans become with snow. I lived in Albuquerque the entire summer and most of the fall. For 33 years I have lived in Central New York, and I can tell you that 1 inch of snow does NOT close school here. It'd take 8+ inches to delay/close school here. The other aspect is accidents. Is it simply because people are inexperienced or something larger? 2-3 inches is an everyday occurence here and often times a prayer answered!

Blizzard warnings have been posted for parts of east central New Mexico. Those areas will see quite a bit of snow and blowing snow greatly reducing visibility tonight. The Albuquerque metro area was upgraded to a Winter Weather Advisory. The metro could see up to an inch tonight (possibly 2 or 3 inches in the foothills).
