I also didn’t list Rep. Jeff Steinborn, D-Las Cruces (who is returning like Rep. Cote), not because of some sort of northern New Mexico bias but because of two reasons.

1) I listed one Senator as an example. My intention wasn’t to make a list of every veteran lawmaker who was technically a fresh face.
2) I listed Sen. O’Neill specifically because I mention his name again later in the article.

Hazing or indoctrination into the “good old boy” system that represents how things work in the Round Outhouse? After watching the shenanigans coming out of Santa Fe the last 40 years I tend to think it’s the latter.

Goldsmith presents the stereotypical “north of I-40″ attitude in his second paragraph. Note that Senator Joe Cervantes is another veteran representative who is a Senatorial newbie. And Representative Nate Cote is back in HD 53 after being out for one term.
