Two Storms In Four Days…February 8th, 2013 at 5:36 pm by Mark Ronchetti under Weather
Our first storm will roll in on Saturday. The biggest concern here in the metro will be winds gusting over 40mph and sharply colder temps. We will have a shot at a quick shower as the cold front passes tomorrow around noon. However, the winds and highs in the low 40′s will be a much bigger deal in the city.
Snow will develop in the northern mountains early on Saturday. The sw facing slopes will be favored for most of the snow. At resort level 6″-10″ of snow will be possible. The cold temps will help to boost snow ratios so we may not get a whole lot of moisture with that snow.
Blowing dust will be the biggest concern over southern NM where winds on Saturday could top 55 mph. That combined with bone dry conditions will mean reduced visibilities and poor air quality will be possible.
There is another storm on track for Monday. This will drop down further into the state. However, moisture may well be limited. So we will have to wait and see how well this storm does as far as snow goes.
