Next Storm on the WayJanuary 27th, 2013 at 6:38 pm by John Smith under Weather
The next winter storm has picked up speed, and will start impacting the Four Corners late tonight. Winter Storm Warnings are up for the San Juans of Colorado and New Mexico. The San Juans of New Mexico could see up to a foot of snow, while the San Juans of Colorado will pick up between one and two feet! Winter Weather Advisories are up for the Continental Divide and southwest Colorado.
The storm will pass through during the day Monday and into early Tuesday. Expect snow over the north and west and rain/mix at lower elevations to include the metro. The eastern and southern parts of the state will not see as much precip, but will get a good dose of wind throughout Monday afternoon. Wind gusts in the eastern plains could top 55 mph.
As the storm departs on Tuesday, cooler air will filter into the state. Expect temps to drop by 10° – 15° across much of the state. However, the cool down is short lived. More sunshine for Wednesday and the rest of the week will lead to a nice warm up by next weekend.
