Changes Through the WeekJanuary 21st, 2013 at 3:35 pm by John Smith under Weather
The workweek began where the weekend left off for most of the state with warm temps and lots of sunshine! After seeing a brief cooldown in the east, temps will rebound and continue to warm through Thursday. The warming temps are the result of the ridge of high pressure flattening as a storm moves toward Colorado. That storm will pass north of New Mexico Friday and over the weekend. The northern high terrain will have the chance at some light snow. Most of the state, however, will see nothing more than a cool down.
Early next week, another storm will move toward the state. This storm has a track that will favor New Mexico more. The impact this storm has will depend on how much moisture it’s able to draw. Models are currently pointing to a good moisture draw that would mean decent precip chances across the state. However, there have been many storms that look good a week out, that lose the ability to draw moisture from model run to model run. That may not necessarily be the case with this storm, but we’ll continue to keep an eye on it during the week!
