Recycle old phone books

The city and a local retailer are teaming up once again to recycle outdated telephone books.

The 2013 Telephone Book  Recycling Program kicks off Monday and runs through March 1.

During that time collection bins with large yellow signs will be located at:

  • City of Albuquerque Solid Waste Management Department, 4600 Edith Blvd. NE (at Comanche Road).
  • All Smith’s Food and Drug Stores in the city except the Yale and Coal SE and Carlisle and Constitution NE locations.

During the 2012 event Albuquerque residents recycled 84,000 pounds of old directories, according to the Solid Waste Department.
