Next Storm Arrives Wed NightDecember 26th, 2012 at 3:00 pm by John Smith under Weather
Some snow has been developing throughout Wednesday afternoon along the west slopes of the Northern Mountains. Expect that activity to pick up as part one of a two part storm system moves in tonight.
Part one will quickly cross the northern New Mexico allowing for part two to arrive during the day Thursday. Part two will also cross northern New Mexico. Snow will develop in the north and western parts of New Mexico. Snow will continue for Southern Colorado. Watch the west facing slopes for the highest accumulations.
The storm moves out Thursday night and early Friday. Expect clearing conditions over the course of the day Friday. Colder air will be in place for Thursday and Friday as well with temps 10° – 15° below average.
Over the weekend, a ridge of high pressure will build in allowing for quieter weather and a modest warm up. Despite warming temps, afternoon highs will still be below average. Another storm drops into the state for the start of next week.
