State seeks to restore river

The state wants to get serious about restoring rivers around New Mexico and that effort could get a boost next year.

According to the Santa Fe New Mexican, the state Environment Department plans to ask the legislature for $1.5 millions to improve water quality and stream habitat along some rivers.

One project calls for improving the fish habitat and restoring wetlands for filtering out pollution along the San Juan River.
