Tips to avoid frozen pipes
The National Weather Service is predicting lows tonight in the Albuquerque area of 10-14 degrees Fahrenheit.
Here are some steps to avoid frozen pipes during cold snaps like this:
- Drip a faucet overnight and open cabinet doors around plumbing (especially plumbing that’s adjacent to outside walls)
- Shut down and drain sprinkler systems
- Make sure exposed pipes are insulated against the cold
- Don’t turn the heat all the way down when you’re going to be away from home.
