Tips to avoid frozen pipes

The National Weather Service is predicting lows tonight in the Albuquerque area of 10-14 degrees Fahrenheit.

Here are some steps to avoid frozen pipes during cold snaps like this:

Drip a faucet overnight and open cabinet doors around plumbing (especially plumbing that’s adjacent to outside walls)
Shut down and drain sprinkler systems
Make sure exposed pipes are insulated against the cold
Don’t turn the heat all the way down when you’re going to be away from home.
