Tuesday is the deadline for applicants hoping to be appointed Bernalillo County assessor.
Current County Assessor Karen Montoya is leaving office on Dec. 31 after being elected to the state Public Regulation Commission.
Her replacement, to be appointed by county commissioners as early as their Dec. 11 meeting, would serve the remain two years of the four-year term.
Candidates must be at least 18, live in the county and be prepared to be responsible for setting taxable values on property in the county, informing property owners of those values, preparing and submitting tax rolls and overseeing 89 employees.
Applicants can send a letter of interest and a résumé to Bernalillo County Board of Commissioners, 10th Floor, 1 Civic Plaza NW, Albuquerque, NM 87102.
