Navajo Technical College is sending five runners to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association cross country championships in Lake Placid, N.Y. November 8th and 9th.

Competing for Navajo Tech will be first year runners Byron Dawes of Dalton Pass, N.M., Tyson Ramone of Smithlake, N.M., Jerald Platero of Crownpoint, N.M., Julius Johnson of Window Rock, Ariz. and returning team leader Eric Bailey of Window Rock, Ariz.

The school lost its two top runners last year but Coach Yolanda Todecheenie remains optimistic.

“They’ve really surprised me,” says Todecheenie. “I told them that if they wanted it to go and get it and they did just that.”
