$200,000 dollars from the government go to NM’s self help programs

New Mexico was picked out of 22 states for  funding from the government that will go to self help education for people suffering from chronic diseases such as diabetes, arthritis, heart disease and depression.

This money will go to creating classes for anyone interested in how to better their lives , or the lives of others, through healthy eating, exercise and relation techniques.

This grant will help our state improve the lives of people with chronic conditions,” said Department of Health Interim Secretary Brad McGrat.

The Money will go to support such programs as Manage Your Chronic Disease (MyCD) and Tomando Control de su Salud Program (Spanish MyCD).  These programs use techniques developed by Standfords research department for self help of chronic disease.
