Wednesday Fire ConcernsOctober 24th, 2012 at 12:59 pm by John Smith under Weather, Wildfires
Today will be a difficult day for firefighters battling the wildfires in the Northern Mountains and in Southern Colorado. The dry and warm conditions we’ve seen the past several days continue Wednesday afternoon.
However, today we add gusty winds to the mix making conditions even worse. Wind advisories are in place across the much of the Northern Mountains and Southern Colorado, where winds could gust up to 55 mph.
Thankfully, a cold front will enter the state Wednesday night. This will bring an end to the above average temperatures. We will also see the winds trend downward through the next couple of days as well. Unfortunately, this front will not pack much in the way of precipitation for the Northern Mountains of New Mexico.
As a storm system passes through Colorado through the end of the week, it’s possible that Southwestern Colorado could see a shower or two.
