Cooler Temps are Almost HereOctober 23rd, 2012 at 5:52 pm by John Smith under Weather
Wednesday will feature more sunshine and warm temps as we’ve seen all week. However, the storm system to the north and west will get close enough to ramp up the winds. Wind Advisories are in place across the Sangre de Cristo Mountains from early tomorrow morning until tomorrow afternoon. Winds could gust up to 55 mph in these locations.
Cooler air will start to pour into the state Wednesday night. Thursday will be cooler, but the coolest day looks to be Friday. Between Wednesday and Friday, temps in the eastern plains will drop as much as 40°. The metro will see highs in the 50s by Friday.
Friday night the northern two thirds of the state could see the first widespread hard freeze of the season with most locations at or below freezing. Temps will start to rebound over the weekend and into early next week.
