Film festival debuts ‘Bless Me, Ultima’
The Santa Fe Independent Film Festival opens Wednesday with the New Mexico premiere of a treasured novel now turned into a motion picture.
Rudolfo Anaya penned “Bless Me, Ultima” as a tale of the relationship between a boy and his curandera grandmother set during World War II.
Deeply rooted in culture, mysticism and the battle between good and evil, the novel has been banned by some school districts and hailed as a literary classic.
