Hispanic center names interim leader
A former top official of Bernalillo County has been named interim executive director of the National Hispanic Cultural Center Foundation.
Julie Morgas Baca’s appointment was announced today.
She spent eight years with county last serving as deputy county manager for community services including time as interim county manager during the search for a permanent manager. She also worked eight years as fiscal-services manager for the Second Judicial District Court in Albuquerque.
Foundation executive director and former New Mexico first lady Clara Apodaca recently announced her retirement from the foundation, which has been at odds with the state over $800,000 spent for a frescoe at the National Hispanic Cultural Center on Fourth Street SW in Albuquerque.

I first met Juli many years ago when I worked at Bernalillo County. At that time I thought her a very kind and wonderful individual. Also very knowledgeable in her job, which was then at the Second Judicial District Court. I am glad to see that she has continued to do so well in her career.
