After seeing a stellar start to August, with above average precip for the entire month in only three weeks, things have certainly come to a grinding halt! The week is going to end with as much sunshine as it began with. The only spots that have the chances to pick up a storm or two will be the northern and western high terrain. But, even these locations won’t see a washout.
The holiday weekend will continue the theme of sunny skies and warm temperatures. Particularly in the east, where highs will climb into the mid to upper 90s. However, the unusually warm temperatures will be short lived as we watch for a back door cold front to arrive for the middle of next week. That will help enhance shower and storm chances and cool off some of the hotter parts of the state.

A water main break in northeast Albuquerque is expected to cause problems for traffic and nearby homes and businesses throughout today and Friday.
Residents living on Eubank between Montgomery and Osuna may experience low water pressure or sporadic outages, and about eight businesses are without water service today.
The break is in a 20-inch concrete pipe on Eubank at Gutierrez.
And a second unrelated break caused huge problems for a homeowner at Natalie and Moon NE.
The water caused a sinkhole to form in the driveway and garage. The water then sprayed into the vent system and flooded the home.
