Labor Day Weekend: Nice, but Hot!

August 31st, 2012 at 5:17 pm by under Weather

Labor Day weekend will feature lots of sunshine across much of New Mexico. However we will watch an area of high pressure to slide to the southwestern corner of the state. That will open a westerly flow that could push slightly better precip chances into the far western parts of the state. The best chances for storms will still reside over the northern and western high terrain.

That westerly flow will also mean big time heat across the eastern part of the state. Temperatures in the east central and southeastern parts of New Mexico will make a run for 100° by Labor Day. Hope is on the way for the heat and shower chances by the middle and latter part of next week as a back door cold front will be sliding across New Mexico. That will increase storm coverage for the northeast by next Thursday, and across central sections by next Friday. It will also help pull the extremely hot temperatures closer to what’s average for this time of year.
