Crowds gathering in Hobbs for Gov. Romney

Gov. Mitt Romney is scheduled to unveil his energy plan and address the public around 11 a.m. at the Watson Truck & Supply in Hobbs, N.M.

The presumptive Republican candidate for president will head to the Lea Convention Center for a fundraiser later this afternoon.

I am happy to see, that in spite of his and fellow ‘rethuglicans’ grandstanding, (Pearce and Wilson), that New Mexicans are giving Martin Heinrich the lead over Heather Wilson. Romney wants the Federal government to be in charge of energy drilling in all states, which means that we and all other states, will have no control over our environment. Wilson and Romney want to roll back all environmental restrictions so that we can become the next ‘Gaslands’. For a state where water is a precious commodity, we need to be able to control our precious resource. Natural gas drilling (Hydrofracking) will contaminate our water supply, and the Federal government will have no obligation to us or our people. Romney says that drilling in New Mexico will provide over 3,000,000 jobs and make New Mexico rich! If you believe that, you might also believe that the Taliban really likes women. Look at every state where they are doing massive amounts of drilling for natural gas, and you will not only see that it doesn’t provide the jobs they boasting about, it is also contaminating the land and water all around it, and families are having to vacate their land because it no longer supports life. New Mexico is poor, but we have our land and we love it. Do not allow the ‘gringo’ politician to take it away again, with lies of prosperity. Once our water and land is gone, it is gone for good. There will be more poverty here than ever before, and the rich (oil companies and politicians) will still be getting richer again.
