Given that we don’t have much to talk about storm wise lets talk about a question I often get about El Nino. With a developing El Nino doesn’t that mean a good monsoon season. In fact, no it doesn’t. We looked back at the last six monsoon seasons leading into an El Nino. In three of those years 2010, 2006 and 1997 we were above average precip wise. However, in 2004, 2002 and 1994 we were below average. So what this tells us is an emerging El Nino does not necessarily help the summer monsoon flow. We are sure see that this year.
The west and north will be favored for storms on Wednesday. Central and eastern section will heat up and stay dry. Bummer.
