Tio Grande Fire Closes U.S. 64

A new fire, called the Tio Grande Fire is burning in the Carson National Forest and has closed U.S. Highway 64 in both directions between Tres Piedras and Tierra Amarilla.

The Tio Grande fire is estimated at 1 1/2 acres according to fire information officer Dorotea Martinez.

The fire was started by lightning and fire crews are hiking to the fire tonight.

    Let’s see. The fire is big enough to close the highway so they are waiting until tonight to WALK INTO THE FIRE? Now there are thunderheads across the Brazos. Can’t tell what’s going on and for sure, around here I would only believe my own eyes.
