More than 100 photographs by area high school students capturing different aspects of their lives are on exhibit at The Albuquerque Museum of Art and History as part of the annual Focus on Youth exhibition.
The exhibition, made possible through a partnership with the Museum and the Albuquerque Public Schools Fine Arts Program, includes works submitted by students from the Albuquerque Public Schools, Sandia Preparatory School, and Albuquerque Academy. The partnership provides aspiring artists with the unique opportunity to have their work on exhibition in a museum.
The juried show includes photographs submitted in the following categories: silver prints, digital, non-digital special techniques (manipulated works), and artist photo books. A team of professional photographers, curators, and educators juried the submissions. Jurors this year included: Leigh Ann Langwell, Patrick Nagatani, GuruAmrit Khalsa, Mary Zaremba, Tom Richardson, Hue Walker, Thomas Barrow, and Mark Holm.
Students and teachers prepared the pieces for display, while the museum staff designed and installed the exhibition.
The exhibition will run through June 10, 2012.
