The Keep Albuquerque Beautiful program is launching a new annual drive supporting a clothing bank than helps Albuquerque Public Schools students.

The first Keep Albuquerque Beautiful Recylothes drive will be held Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Cliff’s Amusement Park, 4800 Osuna NE.

Donations of clean, reusable clothing are being accepted for the Bernalillo County Council of PTA’s Clothing Bank, a 60-year-old program that helps students in need of clothing.

“Children can say hurtful things from time to time,” Mayor Richard J. Berry said. “Our hope is that by collecting clothes we can help eliminate bullying and remove the fear of being made fun of while a child tries to learn.”

Keep Albuquerque Beautiful is a program of the city’s Solid Waste Management Department.

Also sponsoring the Saturday drive are Cliff’s and Clear Channel Communication.
