State Police weekend DWI arrest statisticsMarch 19th, 2012 at 3:16 pm by Hawa Konte under Community Affairs, News
New Mexico State Police arrested 38 DWI offenders during the Saint Patrick’s Day holiday weekend.
State Police Officers were out in force over the holiday weekend conducting 15 DWI sobriety checkpoint projects though-out the state.
Checkpoints are conducted in every community across the state, especially during dangerous holiday weekends.
Drivers who appear to be impaired by alcohol or drugs are pulled over for further testing. For sober drivers, the interruption is usually minimal.
Not all of the above listed DWI arrests were a direct result of a checkpoint however, based on national and local research; these projects are proven effective in influencing behavior.
The New Mexico State Police will continue its efforts to make New Mexico highways safe by arresting anyone who makes the decision to get behind the wheel while intoxicated.
