Leap Day a lucky day for some cats and dogs
Feb. 29 only comes around once every four years, and Albuquerque’s Animal Welfare Department is celebrating with adoption fees of $29 or less.
The city’s two animal shelters will be open late that evening and offering professional training advice, pet adoption counselors and demonstrations on pet care.
The shelters open from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. are:
- Eastside Shelter, 8920 Lomas Blvd. NE
- Westside Shelter, 11800 Sunset Gardens SW
There are more than 200 cats and dogs available for adoption, and the $29 fee also covers spaying or neutering, microchipping and legally required vaccinations.
