Santa Fe River returning to historic course

Sections of the Santa Fe River trail in Santa Fe Canyon will be closed for about a month as a restoration project returns water to its natural course.

The work includes excavating a new channel above the 1881 Old Stone Dam to reconnect the river to its historic course.

Other trails in the Dale Ball municipal open space off Upper Canyon Road will remain open.

The current plan is for trail closure to begin on March 5 and end on April 6 although weather and other issues could affect those dates.
