Biden visit to disrupt traffic

Vice President Joe Biden is due in Albuquerque on a political trip this afternoon, but details on interstate and street closures have not been released.

He is expected to land at the Albuquerque Sunport and travel by caravan to President Obama’s state re-election headquarters for an appearance at about 3:30 p.m.

From there he’ll be driven across town for a dinner at Los Poblanos off Rio Grande Boulevard at the south end of Los Ranchos de Albuquerque.

After that gathering he heads back to the Sunport for a flight to Los Angeles.

Even though the exact routes and timings are not known, past presidential and vice-presidential visits have resulted in brief shutdowns of the interstates and access ramps until the motorcade passes.

Street closures around events also have been common.

KRQE News 13 will be covering the arrival and events and updating traffic conditions on and via Twitter as information becomes available.

News 13′s Skyranger also will be in the air monitoring traffic, but security restrictions will keep aircraft away from the actual caravan and events.

It would be extremely considerate of Biden if he would just go on to LA! We have enough traffic problems without his personal input.

  2. Jeb says:

Joe: Hey – I feel like a Mexican plate.
SS agent: We can get one in Albuquerque.
    Joe: Okay – let’s go!
SS agent: Sure – we’ll set it up.
Joe: Now you know I like to make a splash. Make it so that we land and party right around rush hour like we did last time. I can’t stand those New Mexicans anyway. We beat them at the Alamo, and we need to show ‘em who’s boss!
SS agent to himself: What a moron.

  3. Allan says:

Poor Republicans, all stuck in traffic. Just like their party. All dressed up and nowhere to go!

Obama & Biden cruisin’ to victory!

  4. Dirk says:

So Bidens visit wasn’t until late afternoon, but the Motorcycles weren’t available for the funeral of the 38 year veteran police office early in the morning?

Sounds “Political” to me! Classless of Biden too!
