N.M. gets No Child Left Behind waiver
The U. S. Department of Education, after rejecting two previous applications, has granted New Mexico a waiver from standards set by the much-criticized No Child Left Behind Act.
Last week the department approved 10 waivers but said New Mexico’s application was lacking some details for the standards it would use in place of the federal requirements.
The feds, however, indicated the application was close to being approved.
