Rain and snow, maybe ice for Sunday
Cold air is pushing into New Mexico from the northeast this morning. Temps will be quite frigid n the east where many locations will struggle to get out of the 30′s. The high in Portales today will only climb to 37 degrees.
Snow will also start late evening in NM and continue through Sunday. Heavy snow is expected in the north/northwest and lesser amounts in the southeast. Other locations, like Albuquerque, could see a mix of rain and snow.
Freezing rain in also possible in far SE New Mexico Sunday. Icy roads and hazardous travel could impact the region.
The precipitation will spread from the west to the east and into the evening hours in the Land of Enchantment.
The week ahead looks to be active in the north and northwest with breezy condition for locations east of the central mountain chain.
Please use caution in areas impacted by winter weather Sunday.
