Bosque fire burning at game refuge

A fire estimated at 5-10 acres is burning at the La Joya State Game Refuge in Socorro County.

At 3:30 p.m. New Mexico State Forestry reported the fire is burning in grass and salt cedar and is not threatening any structures.

Volunteer firefighters from Abeytas and Veguita are responding as are crews from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Bureau of Land Management.

The refuge is south of U.S. Highway 60 between Interstate 25 and the Rio Grande.
