Trio of bills
A trio of bills aimed at increasing penalties for corrupt politicians, drunk drivers and child abusers are moving through the legislature.
One of them a bill to crack down on political corruption passed the house floor Saturday.
It would enhance sentencing by one year in jail, prohibit former legislators from lobbying for two years after leaving the legislature, and forfeit the pension of corrupt politicians.
Two other bills that would increase penalties for drunk driving and child abuse passed the house public affairs committee.
We are now a little more than half-way through the 30-day legislative session.

If these measures are as stated, please support and pass them now. These are going in the right direction and might even help the legislature even win a few attaboys. Hate to say it, but the legislature badly needs some goodwill at this point.
