NM driver’s license issue

New Mexico state lawmakers have yet to come to an agreement about whether to continue to allow illegal immigrants the right to obtain a drivers license.

The house judiciary committee decided to wait until Friday to vote on the issue.

One bill discussed Wednesday that is supported by most democrats, would continue to give licenses to undocumented immigrants under the condition they would have to renew them every two years.

Governor Suzanna Martinez wants ban licenses for illegal immigrants.

The committee put off the vote to see if a deal can be reached with the governor.

Aiding and encouraging an illegal alien to continue residing within the U.S. is a FELONY. Providing them with a drivers license both aids them and encourages them to stay here. If they insist on driving without a license or insurance, arrest them!
Why is it that our elected Legislators insist on encouraging these people to stay here, knowing both the illegal alien and the elected official, are breaking the laws of the U.S? I always thought an elected official was sworn to abide by the laws of both the state and the country they are living in and representing.
