The New Mexico Philharmonic has chosen the Kimo Theater in downtown Albuquerque for its PULSe Series of contemporary concerts.

The series is a break from traditional concerts mixing classical scores with modern presentations using the pop and electronic influences familiar to younger audiences.

The first performances are planned for Sunday, Feb. 12, at 4 and 6:15 p.m. featuring compositions by Marc Mellits, a member of the music faculty at the University of Illinois-Chicago.

Also featured is the Art Film work of French filmmaker Francois Pain and guest guitarist Kevin Gallagher.

Tickets are priced at $20 and $30 reduced to $10 for students with ID and $5 for children under age 12.
