The Century Link issue with the 242-COPS line has been resolved and service has returned to normal. Please call 242-COPS if you need non-emergency police assistance.
The Albuquerque Police Department is reporting trouble with its non-emergency phone number 242-COPS (242-2677).
Callers are getting a busy signal, and phone company technicians are now working on the problem.
In the meantime non-emergency calls can be directed to 924-3700 or the city’s general information line 311.
The emergency 911 system is not affected, an APD spokesman said.
Below is an email we have received from the Albuquerque Police Department in reference to a non-emergency contact line:
Due to citizens receiving a busy signal when calling the 242-COPS non-emergency police line, calls are being handled at 924-3700 or the public can call 311 and they will be transferred to an APD Operator.
911 calls are being handled as they normally would be. There are not any issues with 911 service. Century Link is on site at APD working to resolve the issue.
